After the project Unknown Krka, the Public Institute of Krka National Park is on its way to receiving a grant for the construction of the Lozovac entrance
The project proposal for the Krka National Park Visitor Management Center – Lozovac has successfully passed through all the assessment phases, and the final Decision on financing is expected.
The total acceptable project costs are HRK 84,351,360.63, with 85% (HRK 71,698,656.53) financed from the European Fund for Regional Development (EFRD) in the form of a grant from the Operation Programme for Competitiveness and Cohesion 2014 – 2020: Promoting the sustainable use of natural heritage in national parks and nature parks (project code KK.06.1.2.01).
This is yet another strategic project by the Public Administration of Krka National Park aimed at implementing sustainable development and visitor management with the assistance of EFRD funds, as the project Unknown Krka: hidden treasures of the upper and middle course of the Krka River, intended to develop the visitor infrastructure in the upper course, was approved last year.
The aim of the project is to construct visitor reception, management and education infrastructure, to increase the attractiveness of Krka National Park as a tourism destination, strengthening educational capacities for interactive education and informing visitors, achieving better spatial and temporal distribution of visitors, and total social, economic and economic progress.
“We have many reasons to be pleased at Krka National Park. The past year has been one of the most successful for us, and we are beginning 2018 just one step from receiving a grant for our second EU project in a year. Since most park visitors enter at the Lozovac entrance, the new Visitor Center will enable proper reception, education and spatial and temporal distribution of visitors. This will help to reduce the burden on Skradinski buk, while timely information on the upstream localities is provided in the newly constructed information and education infrastructure. On the other hand, the Public Institute of Krka National Park will finance the construction of a new dock in Skradin for eight tourist boats. This will further contribute to reducing crowds, which in turn will improve the park experience and preservation of the natural balance, as our primary goal,” stated Krešimir Šakić, director of the Public Institute of Krka National Park.
The construction and commissioning of the Lozovac entrance complex includes construction and equipping the Visitor Center building, which will contain multimedia, presentation, administrative and hospitality content, distributed into four blocks, with washroom facilities. Parking lots, roads and pedestrian surfaces will also be constructed. This complex will stand at the site of the current restaurant, and will extend to the area of the current washroom facilities. The building was designed by the Atmosfera studio from Zagreb, and together with its unique viewing area, will itself be an attraction.
All that remains is to await the final Decision on financing and signing of the Contract, which the project will be officially presented to the public. Following this, the Public Institute of Krka National Park will begin the procedure to select the works contractor, since all the necessary permits have already been obtained.
