Promotional June campaign: with the entrance ticket for Roški slap, you can visit all the localities in the middle and upper course of the Krka River, and get to know this area of unique cultural and historical heritage
Pleasant temperatures, diversity of plant and animal life, and enjoying unexplored parts of the park are all reason to visit Krka National Park. Take advantage of this promotion campaign in June entitled “Get to know the upper course of the Krka River”, where purchase of an entrance ticket for the site Roški Slap, will also include access to the entire middle and upper course of the Krka River: Visovac House Kuželj, Oziđana pećina cave, Burnum, Krka monastery and the Krka Eco-campus in Puljane, and the numerous educational walking trails. Tickets for Roški slap are HRK 100 for adults, HRK 55 for children from 7 – 18 years, and free of charge for children under 7 years.
Your journey begins at Roški slap, a locality full of surprises. After the series of consecutive falls, popularly called the Necklaces by the locals, the Krka drops at the end of the barrier in a broad fan down 15 metres into Visovac Lake. The viewpoint overlooking the Necklace can be reached by climbing the wooden stairs. You can visit the Oziđana pećina cave by taking the 517 stairs laid onto the rock.
The road passes over the travertine falls, connecting these river banks since Roman times. The path that the residents of the local villages once travelled along the steep cliffs of the canyon led to the lands that they cultivated, and today this is a first-class attraction: visitors can enjoy the view of this enchanting landscape of Roški slap, of the ruins of the Rogovo fortress, the Necklaces cascades, and the blue-green water compressed tightly between the cliffs of the Među gredama canyon.
After touring Roški slap, head upstream along the Krka, by boat or automobile, and discover the wonder of nature in lavish vegetation and steep cliffs. The upper course of the Krka River is an oasis of peace and spirituality. In the calm bay along the Krka River stands the Krka monastery, the spiritual centre of the Orthodox faith, and which can be toured with a guide of the monastery.
Hidden in the folds of the Dalmatinska Zagora region, in the rock and karst and overgrown with the rugged macchia bush, we find the gem of antiquity, the Roman military camp Burnum. The amphitheatre can be toured independently, with the help of the educational panels, or with a park guide. Just a few hundred metres from the Burnum archaeological site is the Manojlovački slap, the highest waterfall on the Krka River. Don’t forget to stop in at the Krka Eco-Campus in Puljane, and view the new archaeological collection, displaying artefacts unearthed in the archaeological digs.
In addition to the very popular excursions, as of the first day of June, a novelty in Krka National Park is the introduction of scheduled routes by boat and by bus. Visitors will now be able to create their own itinerary, touring the park based on their own wishes, meaning that they can stay for longer or shorter in any given place. A detailed schedule of the boat and bus lines and departure times can be found here. All those wanting to plan their visit to the park will now be able to select the place, means and time of entry and exit from the park, all online or at the reception desks. This service is for individual visitors only, and is available for groups at a special rate.
As of 1 June, Skradinski buk will be open to visitors from 8 am to 8 pm, the localities in the middling course from 9 am to 5 pm, and localities in the upper course from 10 am to 6:30 pm. Let’s await summer together at Krka National Park!
